SWANNANOA – Ruth Ferguson Bailey, 94, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Asheville Health Care Center.

A native of Fines Creek in Haywood Co., she was the daughter of the late Bob and Myrtle Duckett Ferguson.  She lived in Swannanoa for 79 years and was the wife, for almost 50 years, of the late Earl Bailey.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Maggie Elizabeth Bailey, brothers, Mark and Charlie Ferguson, and sisters, Lillian Morrow and Fannie Moore.   She worked at Beacon Mfg. Co. until her retirement after 48 years of service.  In her younger  years she loved to dance and especially loved to square dance.  She was an avid and dedicated Atlanta Braves fan. 

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lassie Bailey Bogan of Swannanoa and several nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday in the chapel of Brigman’s Funeral Service with the Rev. James Lamb officiating, burial will follow at Skyview Memorial Park.  Mrs. Bailey’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
